Cold & wintry theme continues into weekend

Cold and wintry theme continues into the weekend

After a bitterly cold day today across the UK, tonight will remain largely clear and very cold with another severe and widespread frost. There will also be some snow showers across parts of eastern and southern England as we progress through this evening and into tomorrow. A band of wetter weather pushing in across Northern Ireland will also bring some snow showers for a time to higher and lower levels in these parts throughout tomorrow. Elsewhere will be largely cold and clear throughout Friday.

As we progress through Friday night and into Saturday morning there will be a continuation of snow showers across some eastern and southern parts. Saturday will also see a band of wetter weather coming in across the UK, initially bringing with it some sleet and snow showers to northern and western parts. As this system progresses further across the UK throughout Saturday and clashes with the cold air, it will also offer the potential for some snow showers across parts of northern England and the Midlands, with some further snow across some eastern and southern parts later too.

Some of these snow showers are likely to be particularly heavy across higher ground, with some snow to much lower levels in these parts too.

Sunday is likely to remain cold and settled across most parts, although another band of wet weather could bring some further wintry showers to some northern and western parts at times.

Wintry & Colder Feel To The Start Of The New Year 2012

1st January 2012

Wintry & colder feel to the start of the new year

The start of 2012 will see some wintry showers falling as snow across parts of northern Scotland during new years day. This wintry theme will continue as we head into Monday, with further wintry showers across Scotland, Northern Ireland, and northwestern parts of the UK. Some of these wintry showers will also fall as snow across higher and lower ground in these parts, leading to some accumulations of snow in places. There may even be the risk of some snow showers across higher ground in some areas further south. Tuesday will see yet another area of low pressure arrive, bringing with it some strong winds and wet weather across many parts of the UK. Some of these showers will initially remain wintry across Scotland and some northern regions of the UK during Tuesday, before a brief return to milder conditions across many parts of the UK.

I stated on the 2nd September 2011 that we could expect:

a notable increase in usual wind strengths for this time of year across many parts of the UK, that will result in frequent and potentially damaging gale force winds and strong stormy features throughout autumn and WINTER.”

I also stated in my last update on the 25th December 2011 that:

January certainly looks promising for this at present, in terms of some true cold and snow across Scotland and northern regions of the UK. Although once again there is likely to be some periods of moderation at times, and this is most likely to be reflected in any areas further south.”

February should prevail further in comparison to January, and this is when I feel we are likely to see the most severe part of this winter. A cold start to spring 2012 is also possible, with some especially heavy and widespread snowfalls across Britain and parts of Ireland.”

This is currently still how I see things developing throughout January and into February at present. Although the worst of the strong winds, cold, and snow for January, is more likely to occur from around mid-month onwards. There will also be some interspersions of milder weather at times throughout January, and areas further South are the most likely to see the best of these conditions. I am currently expecting the mean Central England Temperature (CET) to come in at near or below-average for January. Any further updates will be posted accordingly.

May I finally take this opportunity to wish you all a Happy New Year for 2012!

The winners of the white Christmas 2011 competition will be chosen at random and posted on the Exacta Weather homepage later today.

Global Cooling & New Ice Age (2010 Update)

Hi Everyone,

My apologies for the lengthy delay since my last post, I have however been rather busy with my studies and the hectic life that comes with a newborn baby!

Right where should I start???

Well I do hope you are all enjoying a better than average summer than in recent years, especially here within the UK although it has turned quite wet with the odd autumnal feel of late.  The el nino (ocean warming) has largely influenced the European summer this year, although I would hardly say it has been a barbeque summer, has it?

As we all know the la nina (ocean cooling) always follows this and the immediate signs are not very good.  The la nina appears to have already started to kick in and it would be adequate to expect a similar or even colder winter than 09/10 across the UK and Europe.   So there you have it my seasonal forecast for the winter of 10/11 in July.

On that note I am also not surprised after my expressions in my last post about the UK Met Office in Jan 2010, that they have actually since decided to scrap the seasonal forecasts.  I am however also dissapointed as I won't be able to prove them wrong anymore, I mean honestly no seasonal forecasts they are meant to be the Met Office, weather is their game right?  I think they have pumped their models and forecasts with to much global warming input to be anywhere near accuarte in recent years.

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/8551416.stm

My predictions have and always will be based on the current state of the sun and solar activity (climates main driver) and its effects on ocean circulation and many other factors that I have mentioned in previous posts.  It really is quite a simplistic approach and I honestly do feel that we have spent to much time and effort on the global warming saga that no longer exists, I also feel that we have been over complicating our understanding of planet earth.  Global warming is a natural process that our planet goes through before a return to ice age conditions, it always has done and always will, why would it be any different this time around?  All the evidence is sat there staring us right in the face, why over complicate things?

I have been mocked and ridiculed over the past 2-3 years from family, friends, fellow students and lecturers, with no evidence to back up what I have actually been saying until now! although I did notice lecturers backing off from global warming during my last year of study and placing scenarios in relation to global cooling from the suns activity and ocean circulation as 50/50 now, wow what a change around in attitude since recent years when I was laughed at???

Do you remember my post dated November 2009, I clearly stated that there would be huge news to come within the next 1-10 years in regards to global cooling, go ahead and check it for yourself in the archives section.  A recent publication in the new scientist magazine dated 14th June 2010 by Stuart Clark proves my theory on this, I also can't believe this was published in the highly respectable New Scientist magazine, I finally have something to reference for my studies at university without being penalised.  The most interesting point for myself was the admission from NASA and lead scientist David Hathaway that they was wrong about current solar activity, especially as I seriously scrutinised NASA and Hathaways science behind this in some earlier university work of mine back in 2008.  Hathaway even states that "this is solar behaviour we have not seen in living memory" which proves I was right all along to question his science as incorrect.  You can still view the original piece of work I submitted towards the end of the blog post directly underneath.

Clark also believes that we could be in a new maunder minimum by 2015, something I also happened to mention back in 2008.  Mike Lockwood at the University of Reading believes the chances of this happening now are just a mere 8 per cent.  The article is available to read in full for free below, I do hope you will credit my observations and what I have been saying since 2008 and note any simalarities from my previous work and blogs dated well before this was published.

http://www.sott.net/articles/show/210503-What-s-wrong-with-the-sun-

It is also worth mentioning here that a leading physicist who has spent decades studying ice ages known as Vladimir Paar from Croatia's Zagreb university, recently published in a publication dated 12th feb 2010 that "the reality is that mankind needs to start preparing for the new ice age"

http://findarticles.com/p/news-articles/daily-mirror-the-london-uk/mi_8006/is_20100212/europe-years-ice-age/ai_n49501165/

I will leave you with a few snippets of information that I found highly interesting in relation to my global cooling theory.  The German online news magazine focus recently reported that a new record low temperature of -50.2 celsius has been set in Antarctica since records began.

http://pgosselin.wordpress.com/2010/07/15/record-cold-set-in-antarctica/

The climate news from Germany also reported on the slowest mid summer Arctic ice melt ever by using the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administrations (NOAA) own data, even though the NOAA has declared 2010 as the hottest ever???

http://pgosselin.wordpress.com/2010/07/16/slowest-july-arctic-melt-ever/

Come on NOAA surely you can't still be thrusting global warming on us, I knew you would use the el nino to your advantage, here's some real news for you; we need to get very concerned about the la nina to follow and a much colder climate in the very near future, as we transition to a major phase of global cooling.

Global Cooling & New Ice Age UK

I have decided to write this blog to simply put across my theories as a scientist and studying geographer/geologist. First off, I am not a con merchant and I am not going to ask you to buy anything, promise!!! I simply want to make as many people aware of my science theories as possible, because if they are correct, there are some very tough and cold times ahead.  In fact it would not surprise me if there are huge global cooling/ice age news alerts anytime within the next 1-10 years, I mean you only have to look out of the window here in the UK to realise that the climate has changed, look at the past several summers as a huge indicator, yes I have heard of natural fluctuations here and there, but this is quite a big anomaly, + huge huge huge indicator is the global temperature decrease over the past decade, yes you heard that right a DECREASE!!!  not global temperature rises, (Global Warming,  what Global Warming???) this no longer exists i'm afraid

I am still in the process of finishing my degree, for which a lot of I do not agree with and often find myself in trouble with the lecturers, as this makes what they have researched themselves/teaching incorrect. Its really difficult writing essays that you don't agree with just to get a good mark and pass the subject, so I will gain a lot of satisfaction from this blog.

I have also outsmarted the met office in the UK on the last two occasions as documented in this previous blog when I was slighlty less mature, my science is however now a lot stricter and not as far fetched

http://globalcoolingiceagesnowballearth.blogspot.com/

I am also going to state that the met office is wrong about a mild winter for 09/10, and whats all that about a 1 in 7 chance of it being cold??? forget that it will be a cold winter for most of europe and the UK!!!

I only intend on documenting strong and reliable information on this blog, which will cover a large number of subjects starting with the current solar cycle (climates most important factor - FACT!!!). This is one of the only safe pieces of work that I have been able to submit at university, that strongly uphold my science and research, without being penalised for it as the references was not strong enough, by the way I got a first mark for it (highest in the whole year) and critisized the science of nasa scientist david hathaway, read it for yourself below and I will be back soon with more of my work/research if your interested. Thanks for reading, another post will follow soon inc effects on the UK and Europe, the Gulf Stream etc etc etc!!!

(starts here)

Introduction
The sun has been rather blank of sunspot activity in recent years, with only eleven sunspots officially recorded to date throughout 2009. This low sunspot activity that we are currently experiencing has recently been subject to media coverage in the form of scientific papers, named websites, news coverage, media articles, as well as conflict amongst scientists.
Sunspots are dark regions with highly magnetic fields that can be visible from earth. The sunspots fluctuate in activity, and the current decline may indicate a solar event in the form of global cooling, hence some increased media coverage and confusing correlations between the suns output and the earths climate.
The main environmental effects on earth would be worldwide famine and starvation, due to the reduced growing seasons, providing that the sun was heading for a maunder minimum like state as some media suggest, with the most worthwhile examples evaluated below, and others included in the conclusion.

Media Coverage Evaluations
Dr Willie Soon is a well respected Harvard solar physicist that believes the amount of solar energy we receive depends upon sunspot activity as published in his paper. He states that scientists have kept records that reveal warmer weather during high sunspot activity, with colder weather during low sunspot activity. He also interestingly commented on the rise in wheat prices during weak cycles due to less light and heat being produced from the sun, which relates to the main environmental factor of food shortages as previously mentioned.
He also reports that global temperatures have declined for seven years in succession, enhancing on previous correlations between sunspot activity and the temperature on earth. It is also reported that even the smallest of temperature changes to earth, can seriously alter the climate, with direct evidence revealing the sunspot activities influence on the oceans circulation, which only results in sea temperature changes some five to twenty years later.
His theory does seem to hold relatively well, with all the science appearing to make sense, although no direct scientific evidence in the form of graphs are offered, and at present is unreliable, although his background must give him some good stature.
http://www.tgdaily.com/content/view/42006/181/

David Hathaway is a well respected solar physicist for NASA, who recently reported that there was nothing wrong with the sun on the highly respected NASA website. He stated that the average length of a solar cycle is 131 months with a standard deviation of 14 months. In July 2008 this was 142 months the standard deviation of 14 months was officially over in October 2008, which means we are now 13 months (November 2009) outside of his prediction. Although Hathaway suggests that the current solar cycle does not worry him, anticipating many more spotless days before a return to solar max conditions in around 2012? His theories appear very confusing for a scientist who has claimed to of cracked the suns conveyor belt as far back as 1890.
http://science.nasa.gov/headlines/y2008/11jul_solarcycleupdate.htm

Conclusion
Two very well respected solar physicists can simply not agree on what is going on, and media sources are catching on to this divide. Although David Hathaway is well respected and the media source is reliable, his science does not add up in regards to the current solar cycle. His claim to have cracked the suns conveyor belt as far back as 1890, may not be far enough as a recent publication in The Belfast Telegraph predicts the current and next solar cycles will be weak, based on 200 year observations in Armagh, Northern Ireland (Belfast Telegraph, 2008).
Hathaway has himself also reported in 2006, that the sun has reached a record low crawl rate, his exact words on the NASA website was “its off the bottom of the charts, which has future repercussions for future solar activity” (NASA, 2008), leading to a weak solar cycle in around 2022, so it seems that either way cooling is coming.
It is however beyond me why he contradicted his science by mentioning the standard deviation, then covering his attempt at the end by stating maybe 2012. It is however important to remember that the sun is not the only influence on climate, el ninos, volcanic activity, and greenhouse gases also hold good scientific ground, and maybe Hathaway is also taking these in to consideration, although he does openly admit that their are two evenly split camps amongst scientists on which way the sun will go (Fox News, 2008).
Saku Tsuneta another solar physicist from the National Astronomical Observatory of Japan also agrees with Hathaway “it continues to be dead, that’s a small concern, a very small concern” he said.
As unreliable as Willie Soons paper may appear about the current cycle, it appears that we don’t really know what is happening with the sun at present, and maybe we could be heading for global cooling as he suggests, the correlations are available with past periods of inactivity and temperature declines on earth, with temperature declines in recent years equivalent to the return of ice age conditions (ABC News, 2008). The treatment received from the media at present may be minimal, although if it should suddenly increase there would be a cause for concern, due to the huge environmental factors it would pose on a worldwide scale.
